Stockport Interchange Bridgescape
Stockport, Greater Manchester
Representative experience
Carl Bebbington contributed to the structural engineering delivery of the landmark pedestrian bridgescape forming part of the award-winning Stockport Interchange regeneration while employed at Renaissance Associates.
The elevated bridgescape links the transport interchange with Viaduct Park and the wider town centre, creating a dramatic public route over the River Mersey. The structure combines architectural steelwork with practical pedestrian infrastructure within a constrained urban environment adjacent to the historic railway viaduct.
The project required close coordination between structural engineering, architecture, landscape design and specialist steelwork contractors to deliver a visually striking structure while maintaining buildability and programme requirements.
Carl was involved throughout detailed design coordination and construction support, helping deliver one of Greater Manchester's most recognisable public realm projects.
