Project overview

Landmark is a prime commercial office building in Manchester city centre, close to St Peter's Square, delivering high-specification workspace with ground-floor active frontage and roof-level amenity. The building sits within one of the most tightly developed parts of the city, adjacent to existing buildings, public space and Metrolink infrastructure.

The structure provides efficient office floorplates around a stability core, with foundations and basement construction resolved against the constraints of the surrounding streets, existing structures and buried services. Schemes of this nature require careful attention to the interaction between temporary and permanent works, movement of adjacent structures, and construction sequencing that keeps a live city-centre environment operating around the site.

Carl contributed to the structural engineering design and delivery of the project while employed at Curtins, working within the consultant design team.
